ViewSonic: Streaming Performance Optimization & Competitive Benchmarking for AirSync

Location: Taipei, Taiwan

Overview

ViewSonic, a global leader in display technology, launched AirSync, a wireless screen mirroring solution designed to empower educators with seamless content sharing and interactive teaching capabilities. As schools increasingly embrace digital learning environments, ViewSonic sought third-party validation to ensure AirSync could deliver reliable performance in real-world classroom conditions, especially in settings with varied network stability.

Testing Objectives

The goal was to benchmark AirSync across key performance indicators that matter in education settings: ease of use, flexibility, classroom interactivity, video/audio quality, responsiveness, and collaboration support. Testing scenarios aimed to simulate classroom use—wireless screen sharing, bandwidth fluctuations, and simultaneous connections—to reflect how K-12 teachers and students would interact with the system daily. Tests were run on Viewsonic provided hardware.

Test Scope and Methodology

TestDevLab conducted a series of cross-platform tests on Windows, macOS, Android, and iOS devices. Both static and dynamic video content were used under varying network conditions, including controlled bandwidth reductions (Unlimited → 1Mbps → 500Kbps) and simulated packet loss (1% → 5%).

Metrics evaluated included:

  • Audio: POLQA scores and delay measurements
  • Video: VMAF, FPS, latency, resolution stability
  • Performance: CPU, RAM, GPU usage during streaming

The testing process replicated classroom environments by capturing real-time user interactions, wireless network challenges, and multiple device connections. Objective tools like HDMI capture cards and Linux-based network shaping ensured results were both accurate and replicable.

Results and Impact

AirSync demonstrated strong performance for educational use. Teachers can present lessons, videos, and learning content wirelessly from anywhere in the classroom, removing the need for physical cables or complex setup. In low-bandwidth scenarios, the Web version of AirSync maintained audio clarity and stable playback better than leading competitors. While the native app occasionally struggled with frame rate on older systems, these areas were flagged and addressed before rollout.

AirSync’s multi-user support enables students to contribute their work directly to the display, fostering real-time collaboration. Teachers can integrate interactive activities like polls and quizzes, turning passive viewing into active learning. The system’s low latency and interactive compatibility make it ideal for group discussions—turning a standard classroom into a dynamic, participatory learning space.

Value Delivered

Through its collaboration with TestDevLab, ViewSonic validated that AirSync in combination with specific hardware meets the demands of modern K-12 education. From seamless wireless presentation to multi-user support and teacher mobility in the classroom, the solution empowers teachers to engage students more effectively. The testing also ensured that even under limited bandwidth or network instability, AirSync delivers consistent quality—a critical feature for schools with shared or congested Wi-Fi environments.

The result is a robust, user-friendly tool that aligns with the evolving needs of educators and prepares students for technology-driven learning environments.

The testing team was instrumental in ensuring the seamless launch of our new streaming product. Their expertise in performance testing identified and resolved critical issues before they reached our users. We were particularly impressed with their ability to simulate high-traffic loads and identify potential bottlenecks. Thanks to their efforts, we've been able to deliver a top-notch streaming experience to our customers.
