TestDevLab Helps Kriptomat Streamline Their Testing Efforts and Improve the Product

Providing an Objective Assessment of Product Quality

The client had an existing QA team comprising two manual testers and a part-time automation engineer. However, despite being in the market for a considerable period, their QA processes had significant gaps. The team lacked the maturity, resources, and experience needed to establish robust QA processes. One prominent issue was the absence of automated tests for mobile platforms and low test coverage for web applications. As a result, a significant amount of effort was dedicated to manual regression testing. Moreover, the absence of a test case management tool and poorly defined test cases further compounded the challenges.

Recognizing the need for an objective assessment of their product’s quality from an external perspective, the client sought our expertise and initiated a two-week pilot project to identify gaps and receive recommendations for improvement.

Introducing TestDevLab—Establishing Clear and Efficient QA Processes

To address the client’s challenges, we chose an approach that encompassed two distinct workstreams that would ensure a comprehensive evaluation and improvement of the client’s QA processes.

In the audit and automation workstream, we conducted an extensive audit of the overall QA processes, resource utilization, automation setup, CI/CD maturity, and tools utilized for both manual and automated testing. Through this audit, we identified observations and issues, providing a detailed analysis of their significance and proposed solutions. Our aim was to enhance the overall quality of the QA process and optimize the test automation approach. As part of this workstream, we also developed a proof of concept for the client, showcasing a test automation framework capable of effectively automating testing for their mobile, web, and API components.

In our product assessment and testing workstream, we focused on assessing the current state of the client’s product by performing manual testing. We reported our findings using industry best practices, enabling the client to understand areas that required overall improvement or specific fixes. We also demonstrated effective test case management, highlighting best practices and offering recommendations for adapting it to their development environment, resulting in more efficient testing processes.

Overall, we conducted 16 test runs with 25+ test cases across a range of browsers and devices for both web and mobile platforms. Additionally, we performed exploratory testing to uncover potential issues and improve test coverage.

During the two-week pilot project, our team of highly skilled engineers played a pivotal role in delivering value and helping the client detect issues within their product, ranging from minor concerns to critical and blocker issues. We identified and highlighted the most problematic areas in their existing processes, providing detailed information on the importance of addressing these issues and suggesting potential solutions. Furthermore, we shared best practices for test case writing and bug reporting, improving their overall testing efficiency and product quality.

All in all, our personalized approach, technical expertise, and practical solutions have allowed us to deliver tangible results with significant value to the client and equip them with the knowledge to streamline their testing efforts while enhancing the overall quality of their product.
