Koa Health needed to evaluate the performance of three of its applications—Foundations, Mindset, and Perspectives—to make sure that they worked seamlessly across different devices and platforms. By working with TestDevLab, Koa Health would be able to tap into our pool of over 3,500 real devices and get an objective view of the performance of their applications. With extensive experience in manual testing and in-depth knowledge of the healthcare industry, we were confident in our ability to deliver actionable insight to the client, help them improve the quality of their products, and ensure a flawless user experience.
Introducing TestDevLab—Performing Manual Testing and Improving Testing Efficiency
When we first started working with Koa Health, our main priority was understanding the client’s existing QA processes and testing practices. After discussing the scope of the project with the client and their team, we learned that one of the client’s main concerns was that they were not running enough tests on real devices. Instead, they were using simulators to simulate user behavior. However, they found that this approach was not giving them reliable results, as various issues like problems with scrolling, content not fitting within the screen, and audio not playing on certain devices were still being detected by users in the production environment. Additionally, after closely examining their test cases and bug reports, we found that they did not cover all features, and not all bugs were being properly reported. As a result, not all issues could be detected or fixed swiftly. We knew that by making some changes to their test cases and bug-reporting practices, they could see a drastic improvement in their QA processes.
To help the client overcome these challenges and determine how user-friendly their solutions were, we performed manual testing on their mobile and web applications. We chose manual testing because it would allow us to interact with the software from a human perspective and pick up on any usability issues or user interface glitches that could otherwise be missed. Together with the client and their QA team, we created a device matrix that enabled us to perform tests on devices that are most relevant to their target users. The selected devices had different screen sizes, operating systems, and OS versions—which was exactly what the client needed to obtain accurate and reliable data.
Furthermore, we wrote detailed test cases to cover a wide range of real-world user scenarios. This way, we could be sure that we tested all the main features and functions and made sure that they worked as intended. While we were running tests, we investigated bugs to find their root cause and wrote comprehensive bug reports to make sure the development team had enough information to fix bugs quickly and efficiently. To write bug reports, we used the Jira bug tracking tool.
