Improving Testing Efficiency With Test Automation

When we first started working with i-Hub, they relied entirely on manual testing to detect product issues. As a result, their testing processes were time-consuming and prone to errors. This resulted in delayed software fixes, updates, and releases. In order to improve the efficiency and accuracy of their tests, the client understood that they would need to introduce test automation on top of manual testing to test their product quickly and easily. With extensive experience in implementing test automation and building test automation frameworks, as well as profound expertise in manual testing, i-Hub entrusted TestDevLab to introduce test automation and improve overall testing efficiency.

Introducing TestDevLab—Building a Robust and Reliable Test Architecture

TestDevLab assigned an experienced team of test automation engineers to build a robust architecture for automated tests. We created two test automation frameworks for two separate projects covering web automation and API integration tests. To create these frameworks, we used various technologies: Java, Selenium, TestNg, Cucumber, ExtentReports and Allure library for reports, and Rest Assured.

Additionally, after the client’s existing team of manual test engineers left the project, the client required additional support for manual testing. We were able to address this new need quickly and added several of our manual test engineers to the team. Excluding the Test Lead, the client’s QA team is made up entirely of QA engineers from TestDevLab, proving our expertise and professionalism.

Together, TestDevLab and i-Hub have created a testing process that is both efficient and effective. Throughout our ongoing cooperation, we have provided the client with a variety of QA services: web and mobile manual testing, web and API test automation, integration testing, and performance testing using our load testing tool, Loadero. Moreover, we have brought immense value to the client and delivered outstanding results, including increased efficiency across multiple release cycles, better testing practices, and the successful implementation of test automation.

Our involvement in the analysis and development stage has allowed us to enhance feature definitions and acceptance criteria, as well as detect inconsistencies early on, resulting in improved software quality. We have also established better testing practices. Namely, test case writing is implemented before each sprint, ensuring comprehensive test coverage and reducing the likelihood of defects slipping through. The overall testing process has been enhanced, leading to a more efficient bug-reporting process and development workflow.

In addition, with the implementation of test automation and a robust testing architecture, the client is able to identify issues sooner, while regression tests are run in the test environment every night, providing actionable insights about its stability. As part of our test automation process, we deliver detailed automation reports, empowering the client to make informed decisions regarding their product. All backend API requests are automated, ensuring adherence to specifications and allowing the client to run tests and verify endpoint functionality easily. Acceptance criteria are written in Gherkin, which makes it easier to create user-friendly tests that can be automated effortlessly.
